Vintage Spanish Fan Doily

A clever woman very quickly & easily will crochet this exquisite doily…which will become a personal favorite to keep or gift to that special person!

MATERIALS:

J & P Coats Big Ball Best Six Cord Mercerized Crochet, Art #A104, Size 30, 1 ball of White, or

Clark’s Big Ball Mercerized Crochet, Art #B 34, Size 30, 1 ball of White

#10 Steel Crochet Hook

MEASUREMENT:  
11 ½ ” diameter

Starting at center, ch 2.

1^ST RND:  6 Sc in 2nd ch from hk.  Join with sl st to first sc.

2^ND RND:  Ch 3, dc in same place as sl st, * ch 2, 2 dc in next sc.  Rep from * around.  Join with sl st to top of ch-3 (6 sps).

3^RD RND: Ch 3, dc in next dc, * ch 5, dc in next 2 dc.  Rep from * around.  Join.

4^TH RND:  Ch 3, dc in next dc, * ch 7, dc in next 2 dc.  Rep from * around.  Join.

5^TH RND:  Ch 3, dc in next dc, * ch 5, sc in next lp, ch 5, dc in next 2 dc.  Rep from * around.  Join.

6^TH RND:  Ch 3, dc in next dc, * ch 5, 5 dc in next sc, ch 5, dc in next 2 dc.  Rep from * around.  Join.

7^TH RND:  Ch 3, dc in next dc, * ch 5, in center dc of next 5-dc group make dc, ch 3 & dc (V st made); ch 5, dc in next 2 dc.  Rep from * around.  Join.

8^TH RND:  Ch 3, dc in next dc, * ch 5, make V st in next dc, ch 2, make V st in next dc, ch 5, dc in next 2 dc.  Rep from * around.  Join.

9^TH RND:  Ch 3, dc in next dc, * ch 4, make V st in next dc, ch 2, 5 dc in next ch-2 sp, ch 2, V st in last dc of next V st, ch 4, dc in next 2 dc.  Rep from * around.  Join.

10^TH RND:  Ch 3, dc in next dc, * ch 2, V st in next dc, sk sp of V st, 3 dc in next sp, ch 5, 3 dc in next sp, V st in last dc of next V st, ch 2, dc in next 2 dc.  Rep from * around.  Join.

11^TH RND:  Ch 3, dc in next dc, * V st in next dc, ch 4, in next ch-5 lp make (dc, ch 1) 6 times & dc; ch 4, V st in last dc of next V st, dc in next 2 dc.  Rep from * around.  Join.

12^TH RND:  Ch 3, dc in next dc, dc in first dc of next V st, * sc in sp of V st, ch 5, sc in next dc of same V st, (ch 5, sk next dc, sc in next dc) 3 times; ch 5, sc in first dc of next V st, ch 5, sc in next sp, dc in next 4 dc.  Rep from * around.  Join.

13^TH RND:  Ch 3, dc in next 2 dc, * dc in next sc, ch 1, sc in next lp, ch 1, (5 dc in next lp, ch 1) 4 times; sc in next lp, ch 1, dc in next sc, dc in next 4 dc.  Rep from * around.  Join.

14^TH RND:  Ch 6, dc in same place as sl st, * ch 3, V st in next sc, (ch 3, V st in next sp) 3 times; ch 3, V st in next sc, ch 3, sk 3 dc, V st in next dc.  Rep from * around.  Join to 3rd ch of ch-6.

15^TH & 16^TH RNDS:  Sl st in next sp, ch 6, dc in same sp, (V st made over V st), * ch 3, V st over next V st.  Rep from * around.  Join.

17^TH THRU 20^TH RNDS:  Work as for 16th rnd, make ch-4 sps bet V sts on 17th rnd, ch-5 sps on 18th rnd & ch-6 sps on 19th & 20th rnds.

21^ST & 22^ND RNDS:  Sl st in next sp, ch 8, dc in same sp, * ch 6, in next V st make dc, ch 5 & dc (ch-5 V st made).  Rep from * around.  Join.

Hereafter all V sts are made with ch 5 instead of ch 3:  23^RD, 24^TH & 25^TH RNDS: 

Work as for 22nd rnd, make ch-7 sps bet V sts on 23rd rnd, ch-8 sps on 24th rnd, & ch-9 sps on 25th rnd.

26^TH RND:  V st over first V st, * ch 9, 5 dc in sp of next V st, ch 9, V st over next V st.  Rep from * around.  Join.

27^TH RND:  V st over first V st, * ch 9, make V st in center dc of next 5-dc group, ch 9, V st over next V st.  Rep from * around.  Join.

28^TH RND:  Sl st in next sp, ch 4, in same sp make (dc, ch 1) 3 times & dc; * ch 5, V st in first dc of next V st, ch 3, V st in next dc, ch 5, in sp of next V st make (dc, ch 1) 4 times & dc.  Rep from * around.  Join.
