MATERIALS:
American Thread Co, Aunt Lydia's Heavy Rug Yarn
1 - 70 yd skein Dark Green
2 - 70 yd skeins Light Yellow
5 - 70 yd skeins Black
Aluminum Crochet Hook Size H
Rug meas 23" diameter without fringe.
SEAT COVER:ROSE: With yellow ch 7, sdc in 1st st of ch (sdc - yo hk, insert in st, pull lp thru, yo & work off all lps at 1 time), * ch 4, sdc in same sp, rep from * 3 times, ch 4, join in 2nd st of ch.
2nd RND: Ch 1, *1 sc, 1 sdc, 3 dc, 1 sdc, 1 sc in next ch-4 lp, rep from * all around, join in ch 1.
3rd RND: Ch 6, sc bet next 2 sc bet petals, * ch 5, sc in sp bet next 2 sc bet petals, rep from * 3 times, ch 5, join.
4th RND: Ch 1, * 1 sc, 1 sdc, 5 dc, 1 sdc, 1 sc in next lp, rep from * all around, join in ch 1.
5th RND: Ch 8, sc bet next 2 sc bet petals, * ch 7, sc bet next 2 sc bet petals, rep from * 3 times, ch 7, join in 1st st of 1st lp.
6th RND: Ch 1, * 1 sc, 1 sdc, 2 dc, 3 trc, 2 dc, 1 sdc, 1 sc in next lp, rep from * all around, join in ch 1.
7th RND: Ch 9, sc bet next 2 sc bet petals, * ch 8, sc bet next 2 sc bet petals, rep from * 4 times, ch 9, join in 1st st of 1st lp.
8th RND: Ch 1, * 1 sc, 1 sdc, 1 dc, 2 trc, 3 dtrc (3 times over hk), 2 trc, 1 dc, 1 sdc, 1 sc in next lp, rep from * all around, join in ch 1, cut yarn.
9th RND: Attach green in dc before sp bet any 2 petals, two 3 dc cluster sts with ch 3 bet in sp bet petals (dc cluster st - 3 dc in same sp keep last lp of each st on hk, yo & work off all lps at 1 time), sk 2 sts of next petal, join in next dc, cut yarn.
Work 3 more groups in same manner, place 1 in each of next 3 sps bet scallops.
Attach green in 1st trc to right from sp bet next 2 petals, three 3 trc cluster sts with ch 3 bet each cluster st in sp bet petals (trc cluster st - 3 trc in same sp keep last lp of each st on hk, yo & work off all lps at 1 time), sk 3 sts of next petal, join in next trc, cut yarn.
Work another three 3 trc cluster st group in sp bet next 2 petals.

11th RND: Ch 3, dc in next st, 3 dc in next st, 1 dc in each of next 17 sts, 3 dc in next st, 1 dc in each rem st, join in 3rd st of ch.
12th RND: Ch 3, work in dc, work 3 dc in center st of each of 2 corners & inc sufficient number of times on shaped edge to keep work flat.
Rep last rnd twice, cut yarn at end of last rnd.
15th ROW: Attach black in center st of next corner, sdc in next st, 1 dc in each of next 23 dc, sdc in next st, sl st in next st.
16th ROW: Ch 1, sc in same sp, * ch 1, sk 1 st, sc in next st, rep from * all around, ch 1, join in 1st sc.
17th ROW: Ch 3, work in dc, work 1 dc in each st to opposite corner, do not work across straight edge, turn.
18th ROW: Work in same manner as 16th row, but do not work across straight side, cut yarn.
With black crochet ch about 1½ yds long & lace thru last row of ch-1 sps.
RUG:Work rose same as seat cover.
With green work two 3-dc cluster st group bet each petal same as on seat cover.
NEXT RND: Attach black in center dtrc of any petal, 3 sc in same sp, * sc in next st, sdc in next st, dc in next st, trc in next st already worked, sdc in next cluster st, 2 sc in next lp, sdc in next cluster st, trc in next st already worked, dc in next st, sdc in next st, sc in next st, 3 sc in next st, rep from * all around end to corres, join in 1st sc.
NEXT RND: Ch 3 (always counts as 1 dc), 1 dc, ch 2, 1 dc in next st, * 1 dc in each of next 14 sts, 1 dc, ch 2, 1 dc in next st, rep from * 4 times, 1 dc in each of next 13 sts, join in 3rd st of ch.

Wind all colors over 2" cardboard, cut 1 end.

2nd RND: * Ch 3, sk 3 dc, keep petals to front, insert hk from back in sp bet next 2 sc & sl st over ring, rep from * 4 times (5 lps).
3rd RND: Ch 1, * 1 sc, 1 sdc, 5 dc,1 sdc, 1 sc in next lp (sdc - yo hk, insert in lp, pull lp thru, yo & pull thru all lps at 1 time), rep from * 4 times, join.
4th RND: Ch 2, *. keep petal to front, insert hk from back bet 2nd & 3rd dc of next petal, sl st over ch of same petal, ch 5, rep from * all around, join in 1st sl st.
5th RND: Ch 1, then work 1 sc, 1 sdc, 7 dc, 1 sdc, 1 sc in each lp, join in 1st sc, cut yarn.
6th RND: Attach green in sp bet 7th dc & sdc of any petal, * 2 cluster sts with ch 3 bet in sp bet next 2 sc, sl st in sp bet next sdc & 1st dc of next petal, ch 3, sl st in sp bet 7th dc & next sdc of same petal, rep from * all around end to correspond, join, cut yarn.
7th RND: Attach black in any ch-3 lp bet cluster sts, 3 sc in same sp, * 1 sdc in next sl st, 3 sdc in next ch-3 lp, 1 sdc in next sl st, 3 sc in next lp, rep from * all around end to corres, join in 1st sc.
8th RND: Ch 3 (counts as 1st dc), work in back lp of each st 1 dc in each rem st, join in 3rd st of ch.
NEXT 6 RNDS: Ch 3, work in both lps 1 dc in each st, join in 3rd st of ch, cut yarn.
NEXT RND: START BRIM: Attach green in any st, work in sc inc 6 sts evenly spaced, join, cut yarn.
NEXT RND: Attach yellow, work in sc inc 1 st in every 4th st, join, cut yarn.
NEXT RND: Attach black & work 1 sc in each sc, join, cut yarn.
