Free Pattern - Vintage Baby’s Lovely Lace Filet Jacket- Crochet

Vintage Baby’s Lovely Lace Filet Jacket #B121

A clever needlewoman will quickly crochet this delightful, lace jacket
in a filet pattern…
Season-spanning & perfect for many special occasions!

Materials:
1 Large Hank of #2 Perle Cotton
Steel Crochet Hook

No finished measurements, or stitch gauge/tension were included in the original vintage pattern.

JACKET: 
Start with 98 ch, turn & 1 trc, in 8th st from hk.  * 2 Ch, sk 2, 1 trc in next.  Rep from * to end (30) sps.

2ND ROW:  Turn with 5 ch, 1 trc in 1st trc (this stands for 1st hole), 2 ch 1 trc in next trc, * 2 trc in hole, 1 trc on next trc (this is called block - bk), 2 trc in next hole, 1 trc on next trc.  Now work on alternately 3 sp, 2 blocks, ending row with 2 sp.

3RD ROW:  1 H, 1 bk, 2 h, 1 bk.  Rep from * ending row with 1 hole.

4TH ROW:  Like 3rd.

5TH ROW:  Like 2nd.

6TH ROW:  All holes.

For rem of back work as follows:

1ST ROW:  1 H, * 1 bk, 3 h.  Rep from *, ending with 1 hole.

2ND ROW:  4 H, * 1 bk, 3 h.  Rep from * to end.

Rep these 2 rows 7 times, & break off thread. 

Make 21 ch 1 trc into trc where you broke off; then work patt as usual across back; then make 26 ch. 
Turn & make 1 trc in 8th st from hk, then 1 bk, d h, alternately along ch across back & alone other ch, ending with 1 hole. 

Work 10 more rows keeping patt correct all the while.

NEXT ROW:  Work as usual over 16 of little squares, turn & work backward & forward 4 times more, then at neck end add 26 ch for front, turn & make 1 trc in 8th st from hk, * 2 ch, sk 2. 1 trc in next.  Rep, from * 5 times more, then patt as usual to end of row.

NEXT ROW:  Patt as usual over 16 holes, then 3 h, 2 bk, 2 h.
NEXT ROW:  1 h, 1 bk, 2 h, 1 bk, 1 h, then patt as usual.

NEXT ROW:  Patt as usual over 17 holes, then 1 h, 1 bk, 2 h, 1 bk, 1 h.

NEXT ROW:  2 H, 2 bk, 2 h, then patt to end.

NEXT ROW:  Patt as usual over 17 holes, then 7 holes.

Rep last 5 rows five times more, except when you have 24 rows at cuff you will leave 7 squares un-worked as sleeve ends here.

Work other side to correspond.

CUFF: 
Beg at end of sleeve & work 2 h, * 2 bk, 4 h.  Rep from *, end row with 2 h.

2ND ROW:  1 H, *1 bk, 2 h.  Rep from *, end row with 1 h.

3RD ROW:  Like 2nd.

4TH ROW:  Like 1st.

5TH ROW:  All holes.

EDGE: 
1 Dc in 1st hole, 1 picot, (4 ch, join back into top of dc just made), 1 dc in same hole, * 1 dc in next hole, 1 dc. 1 picot, 1 dc all in next hole.  Rep from * to end.  Break off thread.

Sew up sleeves & sides, leaving last 12 rows open at foot.

Work 1 row of holes around neck, taking 2 tog at the corners, & then work edge same as on sleeves all around entire jacket. 

Thread ribbon thru holes at neck to tie.
